Mary Taylor- - - - - Name: Mary Amelia Taylor Nicknames: n/a Age: Fifteen Gender: female Orientation: Heteromantic Demisexual Grade: freshman Play by: Annasophia Robb
- - - - -
Appearance: Mary has a feminine, floral style. She usually wears dresses or skirts that reach to about her knees in length. She wears a lot of cardigans and seems to have a different one for every day of the week. She usually wears her hair down to hide her face, but it is not uncommon for her to put it in a plait or two, either - it honestly depends on her mood that day or what she's planning on doing - but even then there are usually a few loose strands out framing her face. Because of Mary's small stature (she stands at barely five feet tall), her clothes usually give the impression of being too large for her, and more often than not she has to roll up the sleeves of her cardigans because they fall well past her fingertips otherwise. Mary's long blonde hair reaches almost to her waist, which essentially serves to make her look even smaller than she already does. Due to her smallness and the fact that she's quiet, sometimes Mary can walk by completely unnoticed by those around her. Clique: non clique Likes: writing, reading, learning, school, foreign languages Dislikes: bullies, unkindness, citrus fruits, cats (allergic), heights
Personality: Mary is a bit quiet in nature and tends to keep to herself. She loves animals but is allergic to cats. She's never been able to have pets due to the fact that she moves often and doesn't want to stress them with constantly changing environments, but she does get along remarkably well with wild animals, and can often be seen around campus feeding birds or squirrels. She is kindhearted and gentle and is passionate about writing and learning. She's a natural linguist and loves languages and travelling. She wants to be a translator or teacher when she grows up - she hasn't decided yet. Mary is very open minded and optimistic, and even though she was bullied when she was younger because of her accent (which she has mostly gotten rid of other than a small hint) she will always think the best of other people.

Family: Roger Taylor, 39, journalist (father); Sorina Taylor, 39, journalist (mother)
History: Mary was born to a young couple only a couple years after they graduated from university. Mary's parents met when her father studied abroad in Romania, and as they were studying the same program, they hit it off immediately. They began dating and when Mary's father had to go back to America when his year abroad was finished, they stayed in contact. They graduated in the same year and Mary's mother was able to find a job near her boyfriend, so she moved to America and the two found an apartment together. Roger surprised Sorina by proposing and they were married a year later, flying all the way to Romania along with Roger's parents in order to have the ceremony there. A year later, Mary was born.
Mary grew up in a bilingual home, speaking mainly Romanian to her mother and English to her father, but learned Italian from her mother from such a young age as well that it could even be argued that she grew up in a trilingual home. By the time she began attending elementary school, Mary could speak three languages, but she was often teased by her classmates for her slight Romanian accent. She became quite shy and self conscious as a result and didn't speak much in school after that, preferring to keep to herself.
In school, Mary did quite well as she was rather intelligent and had a great capacity for learning new things. Even so, her parents had to travel a lot for their jobs, so they moved every few years to a different state or region of America completely. They spent a few years in Arizona, where Mary learned to speak fluent Spanish due to the fact that they were living close to the Mexican border and it was taught in her school and spoken by many students there. They then moved to New York, where Mary became interested in learning Japanese and then Korean, so she learned both of those languages while in middle school.
Just before Mary started high school, her family moved to a town in New Hampshire by the name of Bullworth. She was enrolled into the academy there, and her parents hope that they will be able to stay there for all four years of Mary's high school so that she can enjoy her high school life as much as possible, even going as far as looking for a house in the area so they can move out of their two bedroom apartment and really start to settle down. Going to a boarding school was a new experience for Mary, and it did make her feel terribly lonely, especially in the first few weeks before she started to get used to things. Mary has just started to learn her seventh language, French. It shares some similarities with Italian and Spanish, so she's picking it up quite quickly and hopes to pick up another sometime soon - she's trying to decide between Russian and Chinese, but she still has time to decide as she's not finished with French quite yet.

RP Sample: On sunny days, Mary would usually try and eat her lunch outside in the courtyard, mostly due to the fact that the cafeteria was always bustling with noisy students, something she tended to try an avoid. Today was raining, though, and had been all day. Thus, Mary found herself seated in the corner of the cafeteria, watching the rain pound against the window as she tried to have an appetite for the food in front of her. It was a Thursday. One more day of classes and she could go home for the weekend!
This weekend in particular was important for Mary because her parents had several house viewings lined up in the area. This would have been Mary's very first time moving in to a real house, as she had always grown up moving from apartment to apartment due to her parents' work. Having house viewings scheduled made the idea of living in one seem even more real. With this in mind, Mary remained cheerful and thought of her classes for the rest of the day. There were only a few left, and then she'd go back to her dormitory and study for a bit. Then, one more day!
All of this was a new experience for Mary - attending boarding school and having the chance, however slim, to actually settle down in a real house. Her parents were fond of the area, even fond enough to consider settling there at least semi-permanently. This brightened Mary's day considerably. Even though going to a boarding school was difficult, at least she'd be able to stay there long enough to get to know people. Half the reason why she'd had trouble making friends in the past was because she was rarely able to keep them for very long. Maybe this would be the start of something new.
