It was a Saturday, but Jenna still found herself at school, and not for the first time in her career or in her life. She preferred to do her work at work and not bring it home, even if that meant having to come in on a Saturday to grade papers and what not. If she went home, the birds would distract her, or she'd want to do anything else. Besides, it was healthier to keep a solid line between her work life and her home life. That was something she'd been adamant about, reminding herself all throughout her years of school. She used to try and get most of her homework done at school, too, growing up. It made going home relaxing instead of stressful, and that was important to the young teacher.
Deeply engrossed in what she was doing, Jenna didn't even notice that anyone else was in the building, much less standing in the doorway of her classroom. Her tongue poked out of the side of her mouth just barely in concentration, and she ran a hand through her brown hair as she focused on what she was doing. After a while, all the papers started to look the same, so she had to concentrate twice as hard to make sure she graded them correctly. Maybe it was just about time for a break....

A small groan escaped Jason's mouth as he walked down the halls of Bullworth. He had gotten into town the day before and unpacked all of his things. He didn't actually start as a student teacher until Monday morning, but he had never been to the school before and did not want to get lost. Plus he had some paperwork that he probably needed to fill out. He had only spent maybe twenty minutes in the office, speaking the principal & his secretary. They had been asking him question on what New York was like and what he wanted to teach and why he picked Bullworth.
Holding onto the papers that they had handed him, Jason looked at it carefully. He was supposed to visit a classroom on the second floor. Mr. Adams was who he was going to be studying under. Hopefully this guy was nice, it was his first time as a student teacher.
Luckily the halls were empty, some classrooms had people inside of them. Whether they were teachers, staff members or even a few students. Approaching the door for the Chemistry classroom, he paused. Somebody was already in there. A young looking woman. A student perhaps? But if she was a student, then where was Mr. Adams? Perhaps bsy running a quick errand.
Opening the door, Jason stepped in, keeping it open in case if he had the wrong room. "Uh excuse me. I'm looking for the Chemistry teacher, Mr. Adams. I'm his student teacher for the year." he introduced himself. "Are you one of his students? Do you know where he went?" Template by Kuroya of THQ & GS.

By now, Jenna should have been used to being confused with being a student. She looked like one and was younger than most anyone else with her job, so in reality she should stop denying it, face the facts, and stop feigning surprise whenever she was mistaken for a student. Yet, here she was, sitting at her desk, looking incredulously up at the man who'd just walked into her classroom, asked for a Mr Adams, and assumed her to be only a student, regardless of the fact that she was sitting at the teacher's desk grading papers. All right, so maybe he couldn't see what she was doing, but still. She was at the teacher's desk! And who was he to assume it was a Mr Adams? Had they accidentally said Mr again, because the old teacher she was replacing had unfortunately been gifted with the same last name as herself? Why did they keep doing that?
Jenna tried her best to hide her frustration with everything, merely choosing to feign a smile up at the newcomer. She stood from her desk, deciding that now would have to be break time after all, and walked over to him with her arms crossed.
"It's Miss Adams, and you're looking at her." she replied to his questions, trying not to sound annoyed. He hadn't really done anything wrong, it's just that she was sensitive about the subject in general. Far too many people mistook her for a student these days, including her own students on the first few days that she was teaching. It was bound to get annoying after a while! Jenna sighed at the thought of it, but continued to smile up at her visitor. "Can I help with something?" If he was an overambitious student visiting the school on a Saturday only to mistake his new teacher for another student, that would just be embarrassing. Why did this always happen to her?

Jason had messed up big time. This woman was not a student, which he made a mental note to not forget next time he saw her. She was a teacher. She was the teacher he was going to be studying under. This was going to be a fun year. Now he was completely embarrassed.
"I am so sorry." he began, feeling his face heat up. "I literally just got into town last night and I start as a student teacher on Monday but I have never been here so I figured it would be a good idea if I came here early to get a feel of the place" he rambled. Whenever he got nervous or embarrassed, he rambled. And he would ramble a lot. "They handed me this paper and it says Mr. Adams, so I guess that was the last teacher before you. And I am so so sorry." he added, feeling himself get weak from rambling.
Taking a deep breath, Jason avoided looking at her in the eyes for a few minutes or else his rambling would begin again. Once he had finally calmed down, he looked back at her. "My name is Jason Thompson. I'm the student teacher for Chemistry" he introduced himself. Hopefully she wasn't going to be mad at him for long. He didn't want to start as enemies with the person he would studying under. it would make the year drag on longer.

As soon as Jenna saw the look on the visitor's face, she knew she'd messed up. She'd probably been a little bit colder than intended because of how sensitive she was about, well, everything, from her height to her young-looking-ness to her actual age in comparison to the position she held. Her somewhat cold smile turned to a sheepish one as she noticed his embarrassment, and from there turned into a concerned one as he began to ramble on his apologies.
Jenna uncrossed her arms in order to wave her hands somewhat frantically in front of her, trying to get him to stop rambling so much. "Oh, no, it's fine, I just get mistaken for a student a lot so it just - no, really, they probably forgot to change it, that's who I've replaced, they really don't keep up with it for whatever reason - it's fine, really -" In the end, Jenna found herself to be rambling on just as much as this guy was. She put her hands down once she realised it, trying to erase the pinkness from her face, and sighed, collecting herself at the same time as the visitor was. Once he spoke again, she looked up at him, now feeling embarrassed herself.
"Oh, they mentioned someone would be sent for that but I didn't realise you would come so soon. I'm sorry if I was a little cold earlier. I'm Jenna." she introduced herself, not including the last name since he already clearly knew it. She held out her hand for him to shake, her previous sheepishness returning. This guy was a student teacher, which meant he was a student, which meant she was meant to be his teacher, and she'd gone and acted like that! On top of it all, she was dressed quite casually since it was a weekend and she wasn't meant to be teaching, and now she was meeting her new student teacher in that state... How embarrassing. Hopefully this wouldn't ruin their workplace acquaintanceship.

A sigh of relief washed over him when Jason found out that she was no longer mad at him. 'Thank goodness!' he thought to himself. Now hopefully they could get past that rather awkward encounter and move forward. When she said that he had arrived, he blinked. Was he early? He wasn't entirely sure. He was still a little jet lagged from the plane. "Well I figured I didn't want to be late when I actually started here. And hardly any students are at school on the weekends, so I figured today was the perfect time to see the school." he explained to her.
Seeing her extend her arm out to shake, Jason smiled and quickly shook her hand. "So like I said earlier, I'm the student teacher for your Chemistry class. Do you teach anything else besides Chemistry, cause from the looks of the paper I'll only be here for the morning classes." he explained to her. He originally thought it was odd that he would be leaving around noon everyday. But maybe he could always help out her other class?
Looking over at her desk, Jason raised an eyebrow. Maybe she already needed some help. There was a stack of paper on her desk from before they had started talking. "Do you need any help with that?" he asked her. Now he felt bad. First he had mistaken her for a student. Second, he had taken her away from whatever she was currently working on.

As the student teacher, Jason, began to explain himself and his arrival, things started to click into place for Jenna. She nodded understandingly at his words. "Oh, I get it, it's fine. I just wish I'd dressed a little nicer is all! Desk's a mess too. I promise I'm not always like this." she said with a sheepish smile, glancing over at her 'messy' desk, which in reality meant that there were unmarked papers still stacked upon it so that it wasn't completely organised to her liking. "Did you need help finding anything around the school?" she added after a moment's thought. He probably didn't want to hang around in the classroom all day, though if he was to be her student teacher and knew how to get to her classroom and the main bits already, he could probably explore and figure out the rest on his own time without too much trouble.
After accepting Jenna's handshake, Jason made a query about his position and job description. "I teach Chemistry all morning, and then after lunch I have a free period for marking and stuff, and then I teach two Geology electives, a beginner's and an advanced. You're welcome to come to them if you want, it's really interesting material!" she could never help the way her eyes would light up in excitement when she started talking about subject material that she was really interested in, like geology. "But since it's technically not part of your job, you can definitely go home too if you prefer." she added hastily. Jenna wasn't used to technically being someone's boss, so it was a little awkward for her still. She wasn't his boss, per se, she had to remind herself. Just a teacher, but it was different since they were so close in age. But wasn't she close in age with most of her students because of how young she was? She reprimanded herself inwardly. This shouldn't be any different.
Now Jason had taken notice of her desk, which was in itself a bit embarrassing and in her opinion, was in quite a state of disarray. "Ah, sorry about that. It's their latest test, I'm just marking them, but after a while all the answers look the same so I guess it's lucky you came when you did, 'cause I was really starting to zone out there." she laughed a bit. "I don't want to make you do any work though, you technically don't start until Monday right?"

"I had a little bit of trouble finding the classroom. But I should be okay come Monday, if not then Ill ask for help." Jason told her. The school didn't look too massive. But maybe it was bigger on the inside like a TARDIS from Doctor Who. Jason nodded his head, he probably would stay and help her at her other subject. It wasn't as if he had anything else to do really. All he really had was the option to go back to his apartment and do nothing. "I'll help out. I guess during that time I could grade papers or hand out assignments or something." he said with a shrug. She was his boss, so whatever she told him it wasn't as if he could fully complain.
A small chuckle escaped his lips. "I mean technically yes I do start on Monday. But I figured you'd want some help with all of that paperwork. But if you don't want my help, then fine with me." he joked. He could always get some food from a place nearby. Maybe pick something up for her as well.

Jenna nodded when Jason said he would be okay finding things and could always ask for help. That was good. She hated it when people refused to ask for help. Her dad had always been really stubborn about asking for directions if they ever left their little farming community and they always ended up getting lost! The more she thought of it, the more Jenna was already excited about having a student teacher. It really would help to reduce the workload, that was for sure! And it was even better that he was willing to help out with her other classes, too! "Great! I think you'll enjoy it. It's an elective, so most of the students actually want to be there." The difficulty with high school students was lack of motivation, but that issue was often solved with electives.
Jenna didn't like the idea of having him work on his day off or during his free afternoons, but then again, so was she, and they were both going to be paid by salary anyway, so it wasn't like they had exact hours they had to put in to get a paycheck. They'd make the same regardless. So if he was offering, what was the big deal? All right, she'd convinced herself.
"You know what, that would actually be a huge help." she admitted. "And I guess it's not a bad idea that we start getting used to working together before your first day. Hey, do you know where the staff room is?"

Jason nodded his head, now curious to see how this class would go down. Classes where students actually wanted to be there, were always fun. He had a few classes like that growing up. But of course only one bad apple could rotten the bunch, he had a few classes like that as well. So hopefully every kid in her elective actually wanted to be there.
Jason smiled when she finally agreed to his help. Now he actually had something to do for a while and kill some time, which was totally fine with him. Listening to her question, he shook his head. "Nope" he said with a slight chuckle in his voice. "I only know where the main office and where your classroom are. Why? Did you need me to run something there? Cause I can if you need me to."

Jenna looked forward to teaching in general, but now that she'd have an extra hand she looked forward to it even more. It could be stressful at times and it was always the case of taking work home with her. It would be nice to have someone else to split the work load with, and Bullworth was a good school for someone who was learning the field - or at least, Jenna thought so, but maybe she was biased since it was her first place of employment.
Jenna shook her head when Jason admitted to not knowing where the staff room was. "I was going to see if you would make some coffee, but to be honest, I could really use a break for a few minutes. I'll go with you. It'll be good to know where it is, trust me - if you aren't a coffee addict already, you will be before your job here's done."

Coffee sounded good right about now. Jason did not hate coffee, he was a little picky about what he drank. And well, he mainly drank lattes and other drinks that a lot of females drank. Caramel lattes, chai tea, etc etc. Did he want to admit that out loud? No. But if it was coffee that he was going to make himself, then it was a little different. He would probably add a ton of cream & sugar to it. He mainly hated the bitter taste of coffee.
"Yeah that sounds good" Jason told her, nodding his head. Walking over to the door of her room, he opened it up & waited for her. Ladies first. "Oh yeah, I enjoy coffee." he told her. He assumed that they were going to the teacher's lounge for the coffee. Where else would they go?

Did Jenna prefer sugary, delicious lattes and such as opposed to black coffee? Absolutely. But beggars couldn't be choosers, and the coffee in the staff room was free, so she had to make do with what she had. Then again, it was a Saturday... she could probably make that into a valid excuse to leave the school campus for a little while to get a coffee that actually tasted decent. Especially now that she had a second pair of hands to help her with the grading...
"Good," was all she said in response to Jason's affirmation of liking coffee. Well, if he liked it, she wouldn't make him go off campus this time. She led the way to the staff room and once they reached it, gestured to the coffee machine. "It's not great, but it's free, so I can't really complain even if I'd prefer to drink something less bitter and with more flavour. Anyway," she added, "this's the staff room, so you're welcome to use it whenever. I can't believe they didn't give you a tour or anything!" she shook her head with a sigh, looking through the different types of coffee and trying to find the most caffeinated but least offensive one.

welcome
Bullworth Academy is a high school set up in rural New Hampshire. Like any other high school, Bullworth is full of cliques. You've got the jocks and the preppies, the bullies and the nerds, the art kids and the greasers, and of course there are the non-cliques, those who just don't seem to fit under any one stereotype. There are the locals, who have finally made their way out of the clique-driven world that is high school, and then there are the teachers and faculty, who made their way out only to fall right back in. In a world driven by cliques and stereotypes, where will you find your place?
